Apple launched the iPhone 16 Pro in September 2024, and it has become one of the most popular Pro models in our shop. Since the 17 Pro arrived, Apple no longer sells it new, so if you want this phone, refurbished is where you will end up sooner or later. That is not a compromise: you get the same phone with the same chip and cameras, just previously used and checked by us. Here is what to look at before you order a Refurbished iPhone 16 Pro.
The short version: choose the condition based on looks, not on how it works. Every 16 Pro we sell has a battery health of at least 85%, a 2-year warranty that also covers the battery, and 30 days to change your mind. Pay close attention to the SIM version: eSIM + physical SIM card, or eSIM only.

We grade every phone in one of three conditions, and they only describe the outside. A 16 Pro graded Used has been through the same inspection of more than fifty points as one graded Like new. Like new is indistinguishable from new at arm's length. Lightly used has small marks you only notice when you look for them. Used shows clear signs of wear, such as scratches or a small dent in the frame. If your phone always lives in a case, Lightly used is usually the smart pick. Every refurbished 16 Pro from us has a battery health of at least 85%. You can check it yourself under Settings > Battery > Battery Health. From the iPhone 15 onwards, the phone also shows the cycle count and the battery's manufacture date under Settings > General > About. Apple designed this generation's battery to keep 80% of its original capacity after 1,000 full charge cycles. If the battery does drop sharply during the warranty period, that is simply covered.
This is where most questions come from. The iPhone 16 Pro exists in two versions. One has eSIM plus a tray for a physical SIM card. The other works with eSIM only and has no SIM tray. Camera, chip, display and warranty are identical; the only difference is how you get your mobile plan onto the phone.
With an eSIM-only phone you ask your network for an eSIM, or you transfer your number through your network's app or website. Most networks in Ireland and across Europe support this, but with a smaller or prepaid provider it is worth checking before you order. If you swap phones a lot or buy local SIM cards when travelling, eSIM + physical SIM card is more convenient. Every listing on our site states clearly which version it is. 128 GB is fine if you mostly message, take photos and keep them in iCloud. If you shoot a lot of 4K video, use ProRes or want everything stored on the phone itself, 128 GB fills up faster than you would expect, so look at 256 or 512 GB. The 16 Pro comes in four titanium finishes: Black, White, Natural and Desert Titanium, a warm sand tone unique to this generation. Colour says nothing about the quality of the phone. Stock per colour does vary, so if you have a clear preference, check which colours are available for each storage size.
You get the iPhone and a USB-C charging cable. The box is not always the original Apple box. There is no power adapter; Apple stopped including one with new iPhones years ago too.
Every refurbished 16 Pro comes with a 2-year warranty, battery included. Apple itself gives a one-year limited warranty on a new phone. On top of that you have 30 days to change your mind: if the phone is not for you, send it back.
Because Apple has stopped selling the 16 Pro, new units only turn up as leftover stock at other retailers. Refurbished, you pay clearly less for the same phone. The current starting price is shown at the top of this article and on the model page.

Yes, as long as your network offers eSIM. The phone is unlocked; it just has no SIM tray, so you move your number to an eSIM. If you cannot or would rather not, choose a 16 Pro with eSIM + physical SIM card.
Apple does not announce an end date in advance. The 16 Pro runs iOS 27. If Apple keeps to the pattern of recent years, six to seven years of major iOS versions, you can expect new versions until around 2030 or 2031, followed by security updates. Model by model it is in how long will your iPhone get updates.
For normal use it gets you through the day. Apple replaces a battery free of charge under warranty once its capacity drops below 80%, and this generation is built to stay above that mark for a long time. And because the battery is covered by our 2-year warranty, you are not taking a risk.
