Buying a refurbished iPhone 17 Pro: what to check and how much you save
The iPhone 17 Pro is not even a year old and already available refurbished. Smart, or too early? We explain what to check, what you save and when the 17 Pro Max or the 16 Pro is the better choice.

The iPhone 17 Pro launched in September 2025 and has been available refurbished in our shop for a few months. For many people this is the first time 'refurbished' and 'the newest model' coincide. Buying such a young phone second-hand raises questions: how can that happen so quickly, what happened to it, and how much do you actually save? Here are the honest answers, plus a checklist before you order a refurbished iPhone 17 Pro.
In short: a refurbished 17 Pro is technically the same device as new, with a battery of at least 85% (or new on request), a 2-year warranty and 30 days to change your mind. You typically save a few hundred euros compared with the shop price. If you mainly want the large screen and the longest battery life, also look at the 17 Pro Max; if you want to save the most, the 16 Pro is a strong contender.
How can a phone less than a year old already be refurbished?
It happens more often than you think. Some of our 17 Pros come from customers who trade in their phone because they would rather have a Pro Max or a different colour after all. Others are returns and business devices handed back after a short period. Every unit goes through the same 50-point check as an older model: display, cameras, Face ID, speakers, buttons, charging port, battery, and a check that the phone is not blocked or tied to someone else's Apple ID.
What you get with the 17 Pro
The 17 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, the A19 Pro chip and a redesigned aluminium body with better heat dissipation, so it stays cooler than its predecessors under heavy use and long video recording. All three cameras are 48 megapixels, including the telephoto lens. Base storage is 256GB, so the smallest model is plenty for almost everyone. This year's colours are Silver, Deep Blue and Cosmic Orange. Refurbished you get exactly the same device; only the box and the signs of use may differ.
What to check on a refurbished 17 Pro
- Battery capacity. On a one-year-old phone the battery is usually still excellent, but always ask for the percentage. With us at least 85%; if you want certainty, choose a new battery when ordering.
- Condition and price gap. Condition describes scratches, not function. On a young phone, 'As new' is often barely distinguishable from new. The difference with 'Lightly used' is usually a few tens of euros; decide whether that is worth it to you.
- Warranty. Apple gives one year on a new device. We give 2 years on every refurbished phone, battery included.
- Storage. 256GB is the base. Filmmakers and photographers who shoot a lot in ProRes or at 48MP may want 512GB; for most people it is unnecessary.
- Cooling-off period. With us, 30 days. If you do not like it, send it back.
17 Pro, 17 Pro Max or the 16 Pro after all?
17 Pro Max: same chip and cameras, bigger screen and the largest battery Apple has ever put in an iPhone. Choose it if you read a lot on your phone, watch films or are out all day without a charger. The refurbished price difference with us is usually around €200.
16 Pro: a year older, with the A18 Pro chip and a titanium body. In daily use you will hardly notice the difference from the 17 Pro; the 17 Pro handles heat better, has a better telephoto lens and longer support. Refurbished, the 16 Pro is a few hundred euros cheaper with us. If you want to save the most and do not need the very latest, this is the one.
What does a refurbished iPhone 17 Pro cost with us?
The current price and stock per storage size and colour are on the iPhone 17 Pro model page. Because demand for this model is high and stock varies per colour, a version may be temporarily sold out; leave your e-mail address and you will hear as soon as it is back. Shipping within the EU is free from €150.

Is a refurbished 17 Pro unlocked?
Yes. Every phone we sell is unlocked and works with any carrier. Note: some models from the United States are eSIM-only; that is clearly stated on the product.
Do I get the original box and charging cable?
The box is not always original; a USB-C charging cable is always included. Apple no longer includes a power adapter with new phones either.
How long will the 17 Pro get updates?
Apple usually supports iPhones for five to six years with major iOS versions and for a while after that with security updates. With a 17 Pro you are covered until well after 2030.
