The question we hear most often in the shop is not "which chip" or "how many megapixels", but: does this phone fit my hand and my pocket? Apple has built iPhones in three sizes for years: small (up to about 5.8 inches), regular (6.1 to 6.3 inches) and large (6.5 inches and up). Below are all dimensions, weights and screen diagonals of the models we sell in one table, followed by honest advice per size.
In short: if in doubt, go regular (6.1 or 6.3 inches): it is the size Apple makes the most models in and the one with the most cases and accessories. Go small if you want to type one-handed, large if you read a lot, watch films or edit photos. Weight varies more than you think: from 135 grams (12 mini) to 240 grams (14 Pro Max).

Sorted by screen size. Dimensions are height × width × depth according to Apple; click a model for the refurbished versions and prices.
Small: 4.7 to 5.8 inches
Small iPhones are hardly sold new anymore; Apple stopped after the 13 mini and the SE (2022). Refurbished they are popular precisely because people with small hands or tight pockets have few alternatives. The iPhone 13 mini is the best choice in this segment: the same chip and camera as the regular 13, 141 grams, and it fits any pocket. The SE (2022) has an even smaller screen but not a smaller body: because of the thick bezels above and below its 4.7-inch display it is as tall as a 12 mini.
Downside: smaller battery and a small keyboard. If you type a lot or watch series, that starts to annoy after a few weeks.
Regular: 6.1 to 6.3 inches
This is the middle ground and the size of the iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and the Pro models up to the 15 Pro. Since the 16 Pro and the 17 the base format has grown slightly to 6.3 inches at the same width; you notice it mostly in height. Mind the weight: the Pro models at 187 to 206 grams are clearly heavier than the regular models (164 to 177 grams) because of the stainless steel or titanium and the extra camera.
Our advice in this size: the iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 if you want a light phone with USB-C, the 16 Pro if you want the larger 6.3-inch screen and the telephoto lens without going to a Max.
Large: 6.5 inches and up
The Plus and Pro Max models have a 6.7 to 6.9-inch screen and are 16 centimetres tall. That is great for reading, navigation, video and photo editing, and the battery lasts longest. It is also a phone you operate with two hands and one you feel in a front pocket. The iPhone Air is the exception: a 6.5-inch screen, yet at 5.6 millimetres and 165 grams lighter than a regular iPhone 15.
Cheapest route to a big screen: the iPhone 14 Plus or 15 Plus. They have the Max format without the Pro price, and at around 200 grams they are 20 to 40 grams lighter than a Pro Max.
Will my old case still fit?
Only within the same generation and size. The 12 and 13 share a body but have a different camera layout, so a 12 case does not fit a 13. The 14 and 15 differ in connector (Lightning versus USB-C) and camera bump. Rule of thumb: new phone, new case. We stock cases per model from €14.95.
How to test the size without buying
- Cut a piece of cardboard to the dimensions in the table and put it in your pocket.
- Put your current phone next to it: is the new one taller or wider?
- Visit our shop in Nijverdal and hold the models side by side; we have most sizes in stock.
Frequently asked questions
What is the smallest iPhone that still gets updates?
The iPhone 13 mini (5.4 inches) and the iPhone SE (2022) both run iOS 26 and will receive security updates for years.
What is the lightest large iPhone?
The iPhone Air: a 6.5-inch screen at 165 grams. After that the 16 Plus and 15 Plus at around 200 grams.
Is 6.1 inches too big for one hand?
For most people, no: you cannot reach the top corner, but typing and scrolling are fine. If you want to reach everything with one thumb, the 13 mini is the only real option.
