You set your phone down, hear that familiar crack, and when you flip it over you're greeted by a spiderweb of shattered glass. Sound familiar? Screen repair is by far the most common job we carry out in our workshop in Nijverdal. But what does it actually cost, how long will you be without your phone, and when is repairing smarter than buying a new device? We break it all down below, including the difference in screen quality that most people don't think about until it's too late.
What does a screen repair cost?
It's a question we hear dozens of times a week. The honest answer: it depends heavily on the make and model. A screen for an older iPhone SE is significantly cheaper than one for a recent iPhone Pro Max with an OLED display. The same applies to Samsung: a Galaxy A-series repair is a world apart from a Galaxy S Ultra. The price is almost entirely determined by the part itself, not our labour.
| Model | Starting price for screen repair |
|---|
| iPhone SE / iPhone 8 | from €39 |
| iPhone 11 | from €69 |
| iPhone 13 / 14 | from €109 |
| iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max | from €199 |
| Samsung Galaxy A-series | from €49 |
| Samsung Galaxy S23 / S24 | from €129 |
Got an older or less common model? Get in touch and we'll look it up for you. Sometimes the price is surprisingly low; other times you'll need to factor in more expensive parts. We believe in straight talk — even if that means pointing you towards a refurbished alternative that works out cheaper than the repair.
How long does a screen repair take?
Most customers are pleasantly surprised. In most cases, a screen repair takes just 30 to 60 minutes — while you wait in store, grab a coffee, or take a quick walk around the centre of Nijverdal. People who expect to be without their phone for days often walk back out an hour later with a fully working screen.
What affects the turnaround time:
- Parts in stock: we repair popular models on the spot.
- Device complexity: some phones are more involved to open up than others.
- Additional damage: if the fall also affected internal components, it takes longer.
- Workshop availability: during busy periods, we'll book you in as quickly as possible.

Original, A-grade or budget screen?
This is where the difference between a great repair and a disappointing one lies. Not all replacement screens are equal. There are broadly three levels:
- Original (OEM): the same screen used by the manufacturer. Best colour accuracy, brightness and touch response. The most expensive option, but it feels brand new.
- A-grade (aftermarket): a high-quality copy with solid specs — in practice, often virtually indistinguishable from original. Excellent value for money.
- Budget screen: looks attractive on the receipt, but fades faster, responds more slowly and tends to cause issues with brightness or touch sensitivity. We don't recommend it.
At The Phone Shopper, our technicians work exclusively with original or A-grade parts. We always explain exactly what we're using and why, so there are no surprises afterwards. For , it's also worth noting that some iPhones communicate with the screen at a software level — fitting the wrong screen can trigger warnings in your settings. We prevent this by using the right parts from the start.
When is repairing smarter than buying a new device?
Honest advice, even when it's not in our immediate interest: a screen repair is not always the right choice. Here's how to weigh it up.
Choose repair if:
- Your device is otherwise working well (battery, camera, software).
- The repair cost stays below 40 to 50% of the current second-hand value.
- Your device is still receiving software updates.
- You're attached to your current phone, with all your data and settings intact.
Consider a refurbished device if:
- Your battery health is already below 80% and the screen is broken.
- Your device no longer receives updates and therefore poses a security risk.
- Repair costs are creeping close to the price of a good alternative.
In that last scenario, we're happy to point you towards our refurbished iPhones or Samsung devices, all with a 2-year warranty, a 50-point inspection and free shipping across the Netherlands. Sometimes it's simply the smarter move. You can read more about making that call in our article on .
The repair process, step by step
We often get asked: "But what exactly do you do with it?" Completely understandable — you're handing over your phone. Here's what happens in our workshop:
- Intake and diagnosis: we inspect the device, test the touch and display, and check whether there's any damage beyond the screen.
- Quote and approval: you receive a fixed price. No surprises afterwards.
- Opening the device: our technician carefully opens the phone using specialist tools.
- Removing the screen: the damaged screen is disconnected and removed.
- Fitting the new screen: the replacement screen is connected and tested for colour, touch and brightness.
- Closing and checking: we verify all functions, from camera and speakers to Face ID or Touch ID.
- Final check and handover: your device comes back to you clean and fully working.
Last week, a father came in with his daughter. Her iPhone 13 had taken a tumble during PE class — screen completely shattered. Forty-five minutes later, she walked out smiling. That's exactly why we run this workshop.
Why going local in Twente still wins
You could send your device to a mail-order repair company. But you'd be without it for at least a week, you'd have no idea who's working on it, and if something goes wrong, there's no one to hold accountable. With us, you simply walk into the shop at Willem Alexanderstraat 11 in Nijverdal. You can see who's working on your phone, get immediate answers to your questions, and leave with it the same day. We serve customers from across Twente, from Almelo and Wierden to Rijssen, Hengelo and Enschede.
Want to better protect your screen after the repair? A sturdy case or screen protector from our accessories shop can prevent the next break. And if you've got an old or broken device gathering dust? Use our sell your device page for a quick quote and immediate payment.
Frequently asked questions
What does a screen repair cost on average?
Depending on the make and model, costs generally range from €39 to €299. Older or simpler models are cheaper; newer devices with OLED screens cost more. Call 0548-549536 for an exact quote for your device.
How long does it take to repair a cracked screen?
For popular models, typically 30 to 60 minutes. In most cases you can wait while we replace the screen. Only with rare models or additional damage might it take longer.
Will I lose my data when my screen is replaced?
No. A screen replacement leaves your data completely untouched — we replace the display only, not the memory or software. That said, we always recommend making a backup beforehand, just to be safe.
Is it worth repairing an older device?
It depends on the condition. If everything else is working well and the cost is reasonable, then absolutely. If the device is worn in other ways too — think weak battery or outdated software — a refurbished device could be the better value. We'll help you make that call honestly.
Does The Phone Shopper offer a warranty on screen repairs?
Yes. All our repairs come with a warranty. The exact duration depends on the type of repair and the part used, and we always communicate this clearly at the point of intake.
Can you also repair Samsung screens?
Absolutely. In addition to Apple, we also carry out — covering both the Galaxy A-series and the S-series. We stock parts for virtually all popular models and can usually repair them on the spot. See the full overview on our .
