but with a bit of bad luck the display underneath can break as well.
Fall and pressure damage
There are several causes for how such a screen can break.
If the glass (touchscreen) is cracked, a fall is usually the cause,
but high pressure on the phone can also make the glass crack.
This usually speaks for itself, though:
the user knows the Samsung Galaxy S5 has been dropped and that the crack in the glass is the result.
What is stranger, however, is the display underneath.
It can happen that in a fall the glass (touchscreen) at the front does not break,
but the display underneath (display / LCD, in the case of the Galaxy S5 an AMOLED screen) does break.
This then results in black stains or no image at all on your Samsung Galaxy S5.
Such a black stain looks like an oil stain under the glass.
It means the screen is in the process of failing, and in most cases the stain will spread until the entire display of your Samsung Galaxy S5 is black. The result is
that when the Samsung Galaxy S5 falls, the glass at the front is intact but there is a crack in the screen underneath.
It can also happen that the phone does not fall at all,
but that due to a certain amount of pressure
(for example by putting the device in your trouser pocket and then getting on your bike)
the glass (touchscreen) stays intact, while the pressure on the phone cracks the LCD.
