Why won't my phone charge anymore?
It's one of the most common complaints we hear every day in our shop on Willem Alexanderstraat in Nijverdal: "My phone won't charge anymore." Sometimes you think it's your charger, but in many cases the itself is the problem.
After months or years of plugging in and out every day, the connector wears out. Dust particles, pocket lint and dirt build up inside the port. At some point, the cable no longer makes proper contact.
How do you recognise a broken charging port?
There are a few clear signs:
- The cable sits loose and falls right out
- You have to hold the cable at a certain angle before it charges
- Charging keeps starting and stopping
- Your phone won't charge at all, even though the cable works fine with another device
- There's visible dirt or dust in the port
Try this first: clean the port
Before coming straight to us, you can first try carefully cleaning the port. Use a wooden toothpick — never anything metal — and gently pick the dirt out of the port. You'd be amazed how much lint can fit in there.
Doesn't help? Then the port is probably genuinely worn out and needs replacing.
What do we do at The Phone Shopper?
At our shop in Nijverdal we replace charging ports on virtually all iPhone models. From the iPhone 8 with its Lightning port to the latest iPhone 16 with USB-C. The repair usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes.
We use quality parts that are at least as good as the original. After the repair, one of our technicians thoroughly tests whether charging, data transfer and, where applicable, fast-charging support all work perfectly again.
How much does a charging port repair cost?
The price varies per model. For the most common iPhones, the cost is between €49 and €89. On our website you can look up the exact price for your model right away. Some customers combine it with a new battery — then you get a combo discount.
