Not all repairs are equal
The number of phone repair services has grown considerably in recent years. Online, at markets and in small shops — everywhere you look, you can have your . But the differences in quality are huge. We regularly see customers come in with a phone that was repaired elsewhere and is now in worse shape than before.
What goes wrong with bad repairs?
These are problems we come across on devices repaired elsewhere:
- Screens that come loose or are not properly fitted
- Reduced water resistance because the seal was not put back in place
- Touch issues: the screen responds poorly or has dead zones
- Colour differences: the new screen has a yellowish or bluish tint
- Poor-quality batteries that drain quickly
- Screws that are missing or put back incorrectly
- Face ID or Touch ID that no longer works after the repair
What should you look for?
A warranty on the repair. A good repair shop offers a warranty on both the work and the parts. No warranty? That is a red flag.
Transparent pricing. You should know in advance what it will cost. No "we'll have to open it up first" followed by a much higher bill.
A physical location. A repair shop with fixed premises won't run off if something goes wrong. With a market trader or someone who only operates via Marktplaats, you don't have that certainty.
Real expertise. Feel free to ask what kind of parts they use. A good repair technician can explain what they are doing and why.
