iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: the key differences at a glance
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 look remarkably similar on the outside: both feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, Dynamic Island, USB-C and a sleek aluminium design. The real differences lie under the hood and in two handy new buttons. Refurbished, the iPhone 15 is significantly cheaper, while the iPhone 16 will receive software updates for longer.
Chip and performance
The iPhone 16 runs on the A18 chip, while the iPhone 15 is powered by the A16 Bionic. For everyday use — messaging, social media, streaming — you'll barely notice the difference; both are lightning fast. The A18 does offer more headroom for demanding games and is ready for the latest iOS features, including Apple Intelligence.
Camera
Both models feature a 48MP main camera. The iPhone 16 adds an improved ultrawide lens and the new Camera Control button, which lets you quickly adjust focus and zoom. For the average user, both phones take excellent photos — but if you shoot a lot and care about the details, the 16 has a slight edge.
New buttons
The iPhone 16 introduces two extras: the Action Button (customisable for things like the torch or camera) and the Camera Control mentioned above. The iPhone 15 sticks with a classic mute switch. Nice additions, but not a decisive difference.
Battery and display
The screens are virtually identical (6.1 inches, 60Hz, bright OLED). The iPhone 16 has a slightly larger battery and lasts a little longer on a charge. Both charge via USB-C.

If you want the latest technology and the longest software support, go for the iPhone 16. If you're looking for the best value for money and consider the differences minor, a refurbished iPhone 15 is an excellent, far more affordable choice — with the same modern foundations (USB-C, Dynamic Island, 48MP).
