iPhone 15 vs iPhone 14: the key differences
The jump from the iPhone 14 to the iPhone 15 is bigger than you might think. The iPhone 15 brought three visible changes: USB-C, the Dynamic Island and a 48MP camera. Refurbished, the iPhone 14 is cheaper and still perfectly good; the iPhone 15 is more modern and more future-proof.
Connection: USB-C vs Lightning
This is the big one. The iPhone 15 has USB-C — the same cable as your iPad, MacBook and most Android devices. The iPhone 14 still uses Lightning. If you want one cable for everything, that is a strong argument for the 15.
Screen: Dynamic Island vs notch
The iPhone 15 has the Dynamic Island, the pill-shaped bar that shows notifications and live activities. The iPhone 14 still has the classic notch. Functionally both work fine; the Dynamic Island is just a little handier and more modern.
Camera
The iPhone 15 has a 48MP main camera with 2x zoom quality, compared with 12MP on the iPhone 14. In good conditions you get sharper photos and more detail with the 15.
Chip and battery
The iPhone 15 runs on the A16 Bionic, the iPhone 14 on the A15. Both are more than fast enough for years to come; the A16 is a little more efficient and more powerful. Battery life is much the same on both.
Our advice
Go for the refurbished iPhone 15 if USB-C, the better camera and the Dynamic Island matter to you — it is the more future-proof choice. Looking purely for the sharpest price, with USB-C and the camera less of a priority? Then the iPhone 14 is still an excellent buy.
