How to Reset a Samsung Galaxy S8, S7 or S6?
On the latest Samsung devices, the Galaxy S8/S7/S6,
the battery can no longer be removed easily.
To reboot your device when issues arise,
you now use a button combination instead of removing the battery.
Before problems occur, there are a few steps you can take to prevent damage.
Follow the tips below to prevent smartphone issues.
Original chargers
Always use original chargers to prevent damage to internal components.
Third-party cables can reduce battery life and are not certified to power your device properly,
which can cause it to malfunction over time.
Limit the number of active apps
Never leave too many applications running at the same time — close them after use.
Apps running in the background can overload your smartphone,
which may eventually cause it to shut down on its own.
Turn off unnecessary features
Connectivity options are often switched on automatically,
even when you don't need them.
Think of Wi-Fi, mobile data, Bluetooth and GPS.
You only need Wi-Fi when connecting to a home network,
and mobile data is typically only needed when you're out and about.
The same applies to Bluetooth and GPS — you don't always need them.
Turning off features you're not using helps prevent your device from becoming overloaded.
If your Samsung device still needs a reboot, follow the steps below:
Restart the device by holding down the power button for ten seconds.
Is the device still freezing? Try performing a hard reset.
Hard Reset on the Samsung Galaxy S6
Hold down the power button, home button and volume down button simultaneously for ten seconds.
Hard Reset on the Samsung Galaxy S7 (Edge)
Hold down the volume down button and power button simultaneously for ten seconds.
Hard Reset on the Samsung Galaxy S8
Hold down the volume down button and power button simultaneously for ten seconds.
