Anyone considering a refurbished Samsung flagship will sooner or later come across these two: the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S24. Both are compact flagships with a 6.2-inch screen, both are packed with Galaxy AI, and the price gap between the two on the refurbished market is larger than you might expect. Below, we compare the differences honestly.
Processor and everyday speed
The Galaxy S25 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite worldwide — a chip that Qualcomm manufactured specifically for Samsung with higher clock speeds than the standard model. The Galaxy S24 uses either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or an Exynos variant, depending on the region. In practice, you notice the difference most during demanding tasks: editing 4K video, graphically intensive games, or keeping multiple apps open at once. For calling, messaging, browsing and taking photos, the S24 still performs more than adequately.
Galaxy AI: where's the difference?
Both devices support Galaxy AI: live translation during calls, Circle to Search, summarising notes and editing photos with generative tools. The S25 adds agentic features on top of that — such as AI autonomously carrying out tasks across multiple apps — and responds noticeably faster when generating image edits thanks to its more powerful NPU. The S24 received the core features via a software update and simply misses out on the latest, more demanding AI tasks.
Display
There is virtually no difference when it comes to the screen: both feature a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Holding the two side by side, you might notice a marginally higher peak brightness on the S25 in bright sunlight outdoors.
Camera
Both devices have a triple camera with a 50MP main lens, ultrawide and telephoto. The S25 processes images slightly faster thanks to its newer chip, which is noticeable when shooting moving subjects and when taking night photos with multiple exposures. In daylight and under normal conditions, the photos from both devices are barely distinguishable.
Battery life
Both models have a 4,000mAh battery and easily last a full day with normal use. The S25 is marginally more power-efficient thanks to its more advanced chip architecture, but the difference in practice is small: expect a few percent more per charge, not a completely different charging routine.
One UI and software updates
Both devices run One UI, Samsung's own interface on top of Android, and both receive seven years of OS updates and security patches. That means a refurbished S24 will stay up to date for years to come — an important consideration if you want a device that outlasts the average ownership period.

Refurbished price
This is usually where the decision is made. Because the Galaxy S25 is the newer model, its refurbished price is noticeably higher than that of the Galaxy S24. When you weigh the price difference against the day-to-day benefits — especially if you don't use demanding apps or advanced AI features — the S24 often comes out on top as the more affordable option without compromising on screen quality or update policy.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy S25 if you want the latest Galaxy AI features, frequently shoot in challenging lighting conditions, or use demanding apps and games. Choose the Galaxy S24 if you're looking for a compact, powerful device for everyday use and would rather save money for accessories or a longer ownership period — the S24 delivers virtually the same experience at a lower entry price. Both devices are inspected according to our 50-point checklist and come with a 2-year warranty, so whichever you choose, you're buying a reliable device.
