Design and display
Both phones feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display and a built-in S Pen. The S24 Ultra swaps aluminium for a titanium frame, making it more durable and marginally lighter. Its screen is also flatter at the edges and reaches a peak brightness of around 2,600 nits, noticeably higher than the S23 Ultra. In everyday use, you'll appreciate this most in bright sunlight.
Performance
The S24 Ultra runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the S23 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Both chips handle all apps, gaming and multitasking with ease. The difference becomes apparent mainly during demanding tasks such as high-settings gaming or AI processing, where the Gen 3 is a step faster and more efficient.
Galaxy AI
One of the biggest differentiators is software. The S24 Ultra launched with Galaxy AI on board, bringing features like Circle to Search and live translation during calls. The S23 Ultra received some of these Galaxy AI features via an update, but not the full suite — and not always with the same speed or depth.
Camera
Both phones pack a 200MP main camera capable of stunning shots. The key difference lies in the telephoto lens: the S23 Ultra offers a 10MP sensor with 10x optical zoom, while the S24 Ultra uses a 50MP sensor with 5x optical zoom. That might sound like a step back, but in practice the S24 Ultra's higher resolution delivers sharper digital zoom at mid-range distances — which is where most people actually zoom in day to day.
