1. Expand your storage without deleting anything
Does your iPhone keep reminding you that your storage is almost full?
We know how to free up extra space without having to delete anything else.
Hack: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
Check how much space you have left and remember the number.
Go to the App Store, pick an app that takes up more space than you have available and try to download it.
You will get the message ‘not enough storage available’. Great!
Close the App Store again and go back to your available storage.
It has suddenly gone up compared to a moment ago.
The iPhone has freed up extra space all by itself!
You can repeat this trick and free up as much as 2GB of space that way.
2. Invert the colours!
Does your partner complain when you grab your phone late at night to browse the web?
Of course you can turn the brightness down,
but there is another way to let your partner sleep in peace. Simply invert the colours.
Hack: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations and tap ‘Invert Colours’.
When you go online now, you will see that the background is black instead of bright white, so your phone no longer gives off that harsh light.
3. Shake to undo a typo
We all type too fast sometimes and make a mistake. From now on, just give it a shake and it is solved.
Hack: Shake the iPhone to undo the text. Rather not undo it after all? Shake it once more to put the text back.
4. Send even more messages in less time
Want to use WhatsApp or Messenger even more efficiently? Then use these typing hacks
• Do not feel like switching from letters to numbers every time?
When you want to insert a number, press and hold the ‘123’ key and slide your finger to the right digit.
• Of course you can type a full stop at the end of every sentence.
A much quicker way is to tap the space bar twice and voilà: the same result!
• Pressing the shift key lets you type a capital letter,
but did you know that tapping it twice keeps every letter in capitals without having to set it again each time?
5. Search for words in Safari
Searching the internet makes sense, but did you know you can also search within web pages very easily?
Hack: Open a page in Safari and type the word you are looking for in the search bar.
Below the automatic suggestions you will see ‘On This Page’. Tap it. Now you see the word you were looking for highlighted throughout the page.
6. Search for subjects in your photos
Sometimes you are amazed at how smart your iPhone actually is.
Especially once you learn about this hack.
You can search your photos by subject and your iPhone recognises them all by itself.
Hack: Open Photos and go to the search function at the top.
Now type a general search term such as ‘car’ or ‘beach’ and your iPhone selects every photo it appears in.
Without you ever having labelled them as such.
7. Take photos with your earphones
Out for a run and you suddenly spot something you want to photograph? No problem,
you do not even have to take your earphones out. In fact, use them to take the picture.
Hack: Open the camera on your phone and point it at whatever you want to photograph.
Then press the volume + button on your headphones to take a photo.
8. Use your iPhone as a magnifying glass
Do you sometimes struggle to see things clearly too? We have a solution for that as well!
You can actually use your iPhone as a magnifying glass.
Hack: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Magnifier to switch this feature on.
Press the home button 3 times and the camera opens and turns into a magnifying glass. No more reading glasses needed!
9. A flashing light when a message comes in
Do you remember how phones always used to flash a little light when a message arrived?
Feeling nostalgic and want to go back to those days? Then set it up on your iPhone too!
Hack: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility. Scroll down and switch on ‘LED Flash for Alerts’.
10. Need to charge fast?

Hack: Put your iPhone in aeroplane mode by swiping up from the bottom of your screen and tapping the aeroplane icon.
